Tampa Bay November Fishing Report

The weather is perfect and so is the fishing. I love this time of year. I wish it were like this year round. Low humidly, mid 70 degree temperatures and all the fish you want to catch. Add the fact that all the locals are out hunting and there are few northerners around. Sometimes makes me feel like I am one of the only boats out there.

Which direction should I point the bow of the boat. It’s a tough decision this time of year with everything biting. The flats’ fishing has been phenomenal. Snook have been biting really well & we have had some days this past week where we caught near 30. The Redfishing has been equally as good. There are keepers everywhere and Reds are just scattered everywhere in general. There are still a few schools of large bulls around but even more so are the schools of 21 to 26 inch keeper size Reds. The Trout fishing is also picking up though I myself have not been targeting them much because the Snook and Redfish have been so active.

Near shore the action has been equally as heated. Kingfish in the 8 to 30 pound class are everywhere and an easy target. We have had hours of non-stop action on them. On some of the better days each bait my fisherman tossed in has been gobbled quickly, literally as fast as you can drop the bait in the water. The Spanish Mackerel fishing has been equally good. False Albacore have been showing up to the party now and then mixed in with the rest of the fish adding for a powerful bonus. Tarpon and plenty of Sharks have been mixed in as well. Now that the water has fallen into the low 70s we are probably going to see less of the Tarpon though.

Offshore the Grouper bite has been on fire as well. I myself haven’t made it that far, because I can’t seem to get past of the rest of the great action we have been having lately. Maybe I will get out there a day or two this week. Reports have been good out there and as the Kings slide offshore I will have a little more of a reason to get out and make them part of the mix.

Well that is my report, get out there and enjoy this weather while you can. Although I have to say I love winter conditions too; so I look forward to the cooling fall settling into winter.
