Anna Maria Island Offshore fishing
Anna Maria Island Offshore fishing has been excellent. It seems as though the red tide has quickly diminished and a lot of the fish that had move way offshore to avoid it have moved in closer. The grouper and snapper fishing has been really good from 40 to 50ft of water so things look like they are getting back to normal offshore. Inshore, Tampa Bay still seems to be holding most of the best fishing. Southern Tampa Bay has actually been really good for snook, redfish and trout do to the large amount of fish that migrated from the south to avoid the red tide.
Sarasota bay and south of there the inshore fishing is still behind but is does seem like it is cleaning up. We have started to see a lot of sheepshead moving in back there. It will take a little while for fish to migrate back down south. Lucky for me Tampa bay is right out my back door so I get the benefit of being close to where most of the inshore fishing is at this point. We have been very luck around here it seems our fishery has been spared. It is a little frustrating that it will take some time for large numbers of fish to move back into Sarasota bay, because it is a great place to fish when the wind blows hard and we need to find protected water. If that’s the worst thing we have to deal with I will be ok with that.
So all and all things are looking good around here. It should be a really nice Christmas Holiday here on Anna Maria Island. I also want to remind everyone my spring calendar is filling quickly as is my summer tarpon dates so if you are planning a trip now is the time. I hope everyone has enjoyed my quick report have a great Holiday.
