Anna Maria Fishing Report
Anna Maria Fishing Report
Spring fishing has been very good so far this year. Snook fishing has been excellent this spring. I had many days where we landed 50 to 100 a day. Most of the Snook have been in the 22 to 26-inch range. We have also been catching a few from 30 to 34 inches as well. If they leave the season closed that could become the norm, along with much larger fish on a regular basis. We are also catching Reds mixed in with the Snook, more than we were this time last year. Trout fishing seems to be getting stronger by the week. There have also been tons of large Mackerel inshore this spring which is always a nice bonus for some quick action as part of our inshore trips.
Offshore the big Kingfish have been really good. We have been catching a lot of 20 to 35 pounders the past several weeks. The False Albacore are moving in now for some incredible battles. The bottom fishing has slowed for Snapper and Grouper from how good it was this winter, but that could change at any time. We have also been getting on some nice size Permit offshore in the 7 to 20-pound range which is one of the most sought after trophy game-fish in the world.
The Tarpon are starting to migrate in and we are looking good for the season to start strong around the beginning of May this year. I have already began prepping Tarpon equipment in the evenings to be ready for peak season. Looking at the moons, the run should be strong from the beginning of May till around the 15th of July. I can’t wait, it will be here shortly.
I hope everyone has enjoyed my anna maria island fishing report. Enjoy our great outdoors and I will see you on the water.
